Motorists 'must look after their tyres'
Van Insurance News - Published: 26/02/2009

TyreSafe stated too many drivers are risking their own safety and that of other road users by skimping on tyre maintenance.
Figures from the National Tyre Distributors Association recently revealed of the 60,000 vehicles it examined in January, 7,000 had at least one dangerous tyre.
Meanwhile, TyreSafe's own research found ten per cent of motorists intend to reduce the amount they spend on new tyres this year.
Chairman Rob Beddis said this was a false economy as an accident could prove much more costly than basic maintenance.
He stated: "Drivers must re-evaluate their priorities and ensure that their tyres remain safe and legal."
Motorists who end up having an accident as the result of loss of grip may find the cost of their van insurance rises significantly, wiping out any savings made by cutting down on new tyre expenditure.
