Cash injection may be good news for van insurance holders
Van insurance customers who find it difficult to keep their vehicles in tip-top condition because of the state of roads in their area may welcome a recent government announcement.

The Department for Transport has revealed it will be giving councils in England £66 million to invest in helping to make life easier for local drivers.

Intended for work such as improving street lighting, bridge maintenance, flood protection and resurfacing, the money is in addition to previous funding of £2.1 billion set aside for highway improvements.

Transport minister Paul Clark said the cash should benefit individual motorists and businesses.

He stated: "High quality local road networks are vital to communities - connecting people with work, shops, services, families and friends."

An initial sum of £32 million is set to be handed out in April, with the rest being made available during the same month next year.

In other news, the Department for Transport recently launched a media campaign to highlight the dangers of speeding.
