Operation Guardian saw officers from the force spend a day targeting burglars.
During the course of 24 hours, some 15 arrests were made, as police executed 16 search warrants.
Officers also visited more than 800 residents offering advice on crime prevention, handing out leaflets and checking security measures.
Commenting on the initiative, Chief Inspector Derek Hewitt said: "This hard-hitting operation shows we take burglary seriously and are prepared to tackle it at a number of different levels."
He added it sent out a clear message to offenders that they are constantly being watched and will not get away with breaking the law.
Residents in the area were urged to register their valuables to help the police in their fight against burglary.
Earlier this month, householders in Greater Manchester were encouraged to make improving security their new year's resolution.
