Buses to play a part in cutting car insurance claims
Buses could help cut car insurance claims in the future by keeping an eye on speeding motorists, it has been suggested.

According to the Environmental Transport Association, the back ends of the vehicles are to be equipped with signs which flash when the motorist behind them is travelling too quickly or tailgating.

The initiative - which will see the technology fitted to Stagecoach buses - will be activated when a following car breaks the two-second distance rule.

When this occurs, an illuminated sign will remind the offending driver of the speed limit in the area.

Andrew Davis, ETA director, said he welcomed the move.

He stated: "Overtaking large vehicles can be treacherous, so the back end of a bus is an ideal place to remind drivers if they are speeding or tailgating."

Meanwhile, ETA recently reported a new road had been invented which produces electricity when traffic passes over it.
