Car insurance fraudsters 'being brought to book'
The net is closing in on car insurance fraudsters who deliberately cause accidents in order to make money from claims, it has been reported.

Greater Manchester police announced they have arrested another five suspects as part of Operation Contact.

The men will face charges of conspiracy to commit fraud at Stockport Magistrates Court on Thursday December 18th.

Operation Contact - currently being conducted throughout Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire - has already seen 13 other suspects charged.

According to Greater Manchester police, eight people are scheduled to appear at Crown Court later this month for a plea and case management hearing.

Meanwhile, it was revealed specialist officers will continue to investigate hundreds of other traffic accidents in the region.

In related news, the force recently revealed it would be conducting spot checks of drivers at peak times and carrying out tests for drugs and alcohol in a bid to cut the number of collisions in the run-up to Christmas.
