Car buyers 'are warming up to the idea of buying online'
People who are happy buying their car insurance online may soon start turning to the internet to purchase their vehicles, it has been suggested.

Research by Autoquake found about three-quarters of motorists were more open to the idea of purchasing a car via the web than 12 months ago.

The survey also revealed 81 per cent of people believed they would be able to secure a better deal on a vehicle when buying online.

According to Autoquake, the current economic climate is probably one of the influencing factors in the changing attitude among motorists.

Chief marketing officer Fredrik Skantze stated: "We have seen more than a 260 per cent increase in website traffic from 85,000 to 222,000 unique visitors per month ... since the credit crunch started to take hold."

Earlier this year, Autoquake announced it was selling world champion boxer Chris Eubank's Hummer H2 on its website.
