Motorists 'should be wary about driving the day after a night out'
People could be risking more than a car insurance claim by getting behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol, Tayside police have warned.

The force announced it will be focusing on road safety in the run-up to Christmas and said it would be paying particular attention to motorists who were found to be over the drink-drive limit the morning after a night on the tiles.

Chief Inspector Sandy Bowman stated it is hard for drivers to tell if they are fit to get behind the wheel the day after consuming alcohol.

He commented: "What I am appealing for people to do, is ignore the numerous myths surrounding how and when it is safe to drive."

Mr Bowman suggested people avoid taking to the road if there is any chance whatsoever they might have alcohol in their system, as they could be risking their own and other people's lives.

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland police recently warned that people who are convicted of driving while over the limit will probably struggle to find car insurance.
