New training introduced to improve delivery company's road safety
A new training programme being introduced at TNT Express could see the number of van insurance claims made by the delivery company fall.

Proposals for a one-day module to be completed by managers at the firm were unveiled at the Fleet Van Conference, which took place in Birmingham last week.

TNT health and safety manager Kevin Cook said the company had not been motivated to reduce the number of traffic accidents by financial concerns.

"Its primary reason for enhanced road safety performance is the moral benefit to society as a whole," he explained.

Mr Cook went on to say you could not put a price on the life of someone killed in a traffic accident or the pain caused to a victim's family.

The programme is intended to introduce successful road safety best practice procedures across its global operations.

Meanwhile, the campaign group RoadSafe recently welcomed changes - due to be implemented next year - which will see the European New Car Assessment Programme place more focus on electronic stability control systems.
