Police operation sees 44 burglary suspects arrested
Home Insurance News - Published: 02/12/2008

During the first two weeks of Operation Affinity, some 44 people have been arrested.
The initiative - which will run over the festive season - is being carried out by specialist officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Every reported burglary is treated as a critical incident and investigated using additional resources set aside for the operation.
Neighbourhood police teams are also on hand to offer security advice to residents in order to lower people's chances of being targeted.
Superintendent Simon Atkin said, although the force was doing all it could to stop burglars, homeowners can also help themselves.
He stated: "I would like to remind householders that simple precautions including leaving a light on and ensuring doors and windows are locked can help cut incidents of burglary significantly."
Last month, residents in Leeds were urged to increase security following a spate of break-ins in the city.
