Winter tyres 'could reduce car insurance claims'
Car Insurance News - Published: 27/11/2008

According to TyreSafe, Department for Transport figures show slippery surfaces played a part in 55 per cent of road traffic accidents in which the state of the road was a factor last year.
However, the group said, despite this, many motorists tend to use the same tyres in summer and winter.
Chairman Rob Beddis said fitting tyres specifically designed to deal with deteriorating road conditions could help a number of motorists avoid a car insurance claim.
He added: "With temperatures frequently below seven degrees C in the UK over winter, particularly in rush hour when the traffic is at its heaviest, cold weather tyres offer a sensible alternative."
In related news, TyreSafe recently claimed motorists should also check the tread depth on their tyres in winter to ensure they will have enough grip on slippery surfaces.
