Sergeant 'may have quit dance show because of his car insurance'
John Sergeant may have quit Strictly Come Dancing because he was worried about his car insurance premiums, Confused.com has suggested.

The company pointed out, if the former political correspondent had carried on and decided to become a professional dancer, the cost of his cover could have risen by £124.75 a year, compared with if he had remained a journalist.

Research by the website has found there are significant discrepancies between motor insurance quotes for seemingly similar jobs.

The difference in cost for annual cover for a singer and an entertainer could be as much as £223, Confused.com claimed.

Head of motor insurance Will Thomas said: "It is certainly true that using different ways to describe a person's occupation could dramatically reduce their premiums, although it is important not to confuse being savvy with being dishonest."

Earlier this month, Confused.com claimed drivers needed to protect their cars from winter weather if they want to reduce their chances of having to make a car insurance claim.
