Motorists 'need to be prepared for winter driving'
Car Insurance News - Published: 24/11/2008

The organisation has warned ice and snow can make roads treacherous at this time of year and drivers need to be prepared.
It suggested motorists allow extra time for journeys when the weather is bad, as traffic tends to slow down.
Drivers were also advised to keep well back from the vehicle they are following, as icy roads increase stopping distances.
Making sure you have equipment such as a torch, a reflective jacket and a fully-charged mobile phone can prove helpful as well in the event of an emergency, IAM stated.
When the weather is particularly bad, the group said people should only get behind the wheel when journeys are absolutely essential.
In other news, IAM recently reported parents could help cut their teenager's chances of having to make a car insurance claim by taking them out for extra practice.
