Residents warned about bogus callers
Police in north Wales are warning residents to be vigilant if they want to avoid having to make a home insurance claim.

This comes after a spate of distraction burglaries in the area, during which people have called on elderly men and women claiming to work for the local authority or a utility company before stealing property from the house.

Residents have been advised to keep doors locked even while they are at home and put the chain on.

When someone rings on the bell people should leave the chain on until they have decided whether or not they want to let the caller in, the police stated.

They added residents should also ask to see an identity card to check to ensure the person at the door is who they say they are.

In other home insurance-related news, people in Shipley received fire prevention advice earlier this week in a move which could see the number of claims made in the area fall.
