'Wipe away satnav marks to avoid a car insurance claim'
Vehicle owners who do not want to end up making a car insurance claim need to ensure they wipe away visible rings left by satnavs, according to one industry organisation.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) warned if thieves see any sign that suggests someone owns a navigation device they may break in to see if it has been stored in the glove box.

Spokesperson Vince yearly also advised people not to programme their home address into their satnav.

He added those who ignore this advice could end up having more than their car stolen by thieves.

Mr Yearly explained: "Not only do they know where you live, they know you are not there and they can navigate their way using your satnav to your home and possibly burgle it."

Previously, IAM said it was important drivers did not put there satnavs in a location which obstructed their view - otherwise they may end up having an accident, leading to a car insurance claim.
