Police recommend additional security
Home Insurance News - Published: 13/11/2008

Being burgled before the festivities can prove to be an expensive experience, as many people have valuable items intended to be given as presents stored at home.
Residents of the Knowsley area have experienced an upturn in burglary numbers in recent days and the force is keen to help them avoid further problems in the coming weeks.
Among the police's recommendations for foiling house breakers are ensuring patio doors are kept locked even when someone is in the house, removing keys and electrical goods from places they can be seen from outside, and using timed lights.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Green said: "Stay safe this Christmas by taking additional security measures in your home to deter offenders and protect yourselves against a burglary attack. Don't gift wrap Christmas for thieves!"
People planning to spend a lot of money on Christmas presents may also want to consider checking the terms of their home insurance to ensure they have sufficient cover for the new items.
