'Grey cars more likely to break down'
Drivers of grey cars are more likely to break down and require roadside assistance, according to a study carried out by digital motoring magazine imotormag.co.uk.

The company's research revealed that 38.9 per cent of grey cars, the seventh most popular colour, on UK roads are likely to call on the AA or RAC for help.

Following closely behind at 36.7 per cent is the UK's sixth favourite car colour green.

Mat Watson, editor of imotormag.co.uk, said: "Many hire and company car fleets choose grey vehicles as the colour looks newer for longer, with dents and scratches less noticeable - these vehicles are often exposed to very high mileage."

However, he added that grey cars may simply be unlucky.

Meanwhile, the British Insurance Brokers' Association has advised motorists to check their windscreen wipers, tyres and antifreeze in preparation for winter.

In so doing, it suggested, motorists could save themselves from having to make avoidable car insurance claims.
