Money-saving commercial drivers need "appropriate" van insurance

Kate Syred, Head of Direct Line for Business, advised commercial drivers who are opting to drive older models to make sure their van insurance covers them should any problems arise.
She added: "With small commercial vehicles particularly at risk from theft due to thieves targeting them for their loads, vehicles with older security systems may be particularly vulnerable."
Ms Syred's comments follow a recent report from a EurotaxGlass statement that more van drivers are having to "mend and make do" with their vehicles due to current financial strains, which may reflect the decline in sales of brand new commercial vans.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by Manheim Auctions in Colchester has revealed that an increasing number of strapped-for-cash Brits are participating in van auctions in a bid to save money, with people travelling as far as 100 miles to attend.
