Car Insurance News - Published: 31/10/2008

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has advised drivers to have their anti freeze checked, to stock up on de-icer, add a frost inhibitor to the screen wash and buy a window scraper in anticipation of the impending frosty mornings.
Following these measures, drivers can ensure that if they ever have to make a car insurance claim it will be valid.
Motorists have also been warned to be prepared for increased stopping distances on wet or frosty roads and to drive in as high a gear as possible to reduce the risk of wheel spin.
The IAM has also advised drivers to recap on how to handle their car in the event of losing grip on the road and skidding.
Meanwhile, the British Insurance Brokers' Association also warned drivers to prepare for winter to work towards reducing the number of accidents on the roads during the treacherous season.
