GPS systems fall victim to jamming
Car Insurance News - Published: 31/10/2008

Thieves are able to prevent a satellite signal reaching the GPS via a new technique known as jamming, making it more difficult to track a stolen car.
Mark Walls of Tracker said: "Although GPS has a part to play, current UK standards do not recognise the impact of its vulnerability, while more and more UK motorists fall victim to attack from jamming devices."
However, head of the Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service Paul Lambotte added that the "ingenuity" of criminals moves in sync with the advancement of technology.
Car insurance customers can take other measures to prevent theft.
Tracker warned last week that drivers should work to prevent theft in the first place by stepping up their security measures, particularly with darker nights approaching.
The company's managing director Bill Raynal urged motorists to park their cars in a secure area ensuring that all entry points are locked.
