Google's feature shows the average speeds of England's motorways and major roads on its Google Map service.
By showing the current speed of traffic, it is hoped the data can be used by motorists to plan their journeys to help avoid congestion.
Denise Plumpton, director of information at the agency, said: "This sort of project is a key part of our information strategy aimed at getting traffic information out to motorists where and when they need it."
The Highways Agency recently began sharing access to its traffic cameras with the BBC to enable people to see the level of traffic along their chosen route before setting out, Ms Plumpton added.
Earlier this year, the agency showcased its technology at the British Motor Show to demonstrate how drivers are keep up to date about traffic conditions.
