MPs to test hydrogen-powered car
Car Insurance News - Published: 22/10/2008

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg and Treasury spokesman Vince Cable are to visit ITM Power on Thursday to see the ways that hydrogen can be used to fuel cars and how people can generate it themselves.
The pair will have the opportunity to test a hydrogen-powered Ford Focus.
ITM Power will also be demonstrating its Home Refuelling Stations that are intended to enable people to produce hydrogen and become independent of the national grid by powering their homes themselves.
Jim Heathcote, chief executive officer of ITM Power, said the company was "delighted" that the MPs were "taking an interest in its work".
"The government has just announced higher targets to cut greenhouse gases by 2050 and hopes to get cross-party support. Our technology will significantly help to reduce emissions and aim for these tougher targets," he commented.
In related news, the BMW Group is to unveil a new electric-powered Mini, which may appeal to environmentally-conscious car insurance customers.
The Mini E is to be tested by drivers in several US states after its launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
