Car insurance customers 'should protect car investments'
Motorists should ensure they keep their cars in tip-top condition in order to protect the money they spend on them, one car care firm advises.

In order to ensure they are getting the most out of motoring purchases such as car insurance, Autoglym says drivers must maintain their cars.

As part of Car Care Week it is urging Britain's drivers to take care of their vehicles in order to safeguard their condition and value.

"We have noticed that the public are taking more care of their cars than ever before,” says Autoglym chief executive officer Paul Caller.

He believes owners are keen to extend the life of their vehicles by keeping them clean and protecting them from the weather and wear and tear.

A car that has been well looked after could fetch up to £600 more if it is sold, the company adds.

This week the Toyota Yaris came out top in a test of how many miles to the gallon cars can achieve.

It managed 84.66mpg in the 2008 ALD Automotive /TOTAL Excellium MPG Marathon.ADNFCR-1058-ID-18825948-ADNFCR
