Speed gun volunteers welcomed

Using speed guns after having been trained by local police, the team took to the streets of Doddinghurst last week to tackle the problem.
Those who were caught speeding are likely to be facing higher car insurance premiums after having been reported to Essex police.
However, according to Doddinghurst neighbourhood watch coordinator Bill Reid, the steps taken by the group were welcomed by many.
"We didn't know what reaction there would be from the public, but it was very positive indeed, motorists were thanking us for our efforts and stating it was long overdue," Mr Reid asserted.
RoadPilot recently reported that 71 per cent of motorists it surveyed admitted to speeding on more than one-quarter of journeys.
James Flynn OBE, chief executive officer of the organisation, said those speeding on a regular basis could be risking fines and penalty points, which in turn may result in higher car insurance costs.
