Police issue sat nav warning
Car Insurance News - Published: 07/10/2008

A number of people in Salford may be having to claim on their car insurance following incidents in which 12 sat navs were stolen from vehicles in the area.
Fiona James, crime reduction advisor for Greater Manchester police's Salford division, urged drivers to remove all valuable items from their cars when they leave them.
"They should also remove the sat nav mounting cradle and wipe away any suction marks left on the windscreen or dashboard, as thieves will look out for these," Ms James recommended.
Motorists can also boost security by marking their valuables with their postcodes and vehicle registration number, she added.
Recent research by TomTom found that 74 per cent of drivers with a navigation device feel more in control when using it.
Some 55 per cent said they feel more alert when using their sat navs.
