Police crackdown on uninsured drivers

The multi-agency campaign was aimed at addressing a number of "quality of life" issues for local residents.
Officers from West Yorkshire police worked alongside the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency and seized a total of seven uninsured vehicles.
Sergeant John McFadzean, of the Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said a number of offences were tackled during the operation.
"I am very pleased with the results we have seen and am hopeful that it will make a lasting difference to the communities we have focused upon," he remarked.
Figures from the Motor Insurers' Bureau published earlier this year showed that 150,000 uninsured vehicles were seized by police in 2007, car insurance customers may be interested to learn.
It noted that this equated to one vehicle being taken off the road every three minutes.
