Cities worst for uninsured drivers, expert claims
Van Insurance News - Published: 18/09/2008

Recent research by the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) found there are now approximately two million uninsured vehicles on the UK's roads, many of which are in the larger cities.
Lorraine Preston, communications assistant at the MIB, said there are more uninsured drivers in the cities because the number of vehicles is "more concentrated" than in other areas.
The organisation's study revealed that Bakerend in Bradford has proportionally more drivers without insurance than any other area, yet six of the top ten worst locations were found to be in the West Midlands.
Ms Preston commented: "There are many factors that can contribute to a decision to drive without insurance, but it is not only a crime to do so, but one that carries with it major unacceptable costs both human and financial."
Uninsured driving is also tends to be associated with young male drivers, she added.
