MIB to tackle 'perception' of uninsured driving
Car Insurance News - Published: 17/09/2008

Lorraine Preston, communications assistant at the MIB, said some people do not see uninsured driving "for the crime it is".
In partnership with the authorities, the MIB is working to "change both the perceptions and behaviour" of drivers who do not have car insurance, Ms Preston explained.
However, while the problem is a significant one, the expert suggested that the police have had a "great deal of success" in tackling the number of uninsured drivers taking to the UK's roads.
She said 350,000 uninsured vehicles have already been confiscated, of which 40 per cent have either been crushed of disposed of.
"In the coming months, the government and the insurance industry will be announcing the timetable for the introduction of Continuous Insurance Enforcement, the next key step in the fight against uninsured driving," she explained.
According to figures from the MIB, 150,000 uninsured cars were seized in 2007, equating to one car being taken off the road every three minutes.
