Lock your windows, police advise
Home Insurance News - Published: 10/09/2008

The Neath Guardian reports that police are investigating two burglaries in the area, where the houses are believed to have been targeted because they had open windows.
Detective Inspector David Rees, of Neath Port Talot CID, urged people to think about securing their homes to reduce the risk of being burgled.
"It takes five seconds to shut and secure a window, yet not doing so could cost you thousands of pounds," he advised.
Keeping possessions in a secure place and locking doors and windows can "save a lot of distress and inconvenience in the long run", he added.
A recent survey by Halifax Home Insurance found over half of those questioned said they had taken steps to boost their home's security, such as fitting window locks or installing a burglar alarm.
