Council to hand out speed guns
Car Insurance News - Published: 05/09/2008

The Community Speedwatch campaign led by Diss town council is intended to reduce the number of speeders in the area by engaging the local public, the Diss Express reports.
Police from the Norfolk Constabulary are providing Speedar radar cameras and training as part of the initiative.
Tony Palmer, Diss district councillor at South Norfolk council, said there have been a number of problems with young people choosing to exceed the speed limit.
"Boy racers belt into the market square and tear up and down the pedestrian part of Mere Street," he told the newspaper.
Drivers caught by the speed guns will receive letters from the police.
RoadPilot recently reported that 71 per cent of motorists surveyed said they break the speed limit on more than a quarter of journeys.
James Flynn, chief executive officer of the firm, said people were risking being fined and getting penalty points on their licences.
This could in turn lead to higher car insurance premiums, he suggested.
