Motorists to spend more on new cars
Car Insurance News - Published: 02/09/2008

A study by Sainsbury's Finance found that 6.85 million people are planning to purchase a new vehicle between now and March 2009, fewer than during the previous six months.
However, the company noted that drivers are expected to spend £49.6 billion on cars, £2.9 billion more than a year ago.
Steven Baillie, head of loans at Sainsbury's Finance, said the fall in potential car buyers reflects current economic "uncertainty", car insurance customers may be interested to know.
"One good bit of news for the industry though is that those people who do want to purchase a car are willing to spend an average of £300 more than they were six months ago," he remarked.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders recently reported that new car registrations fell 13 per cent in July.
Paul Everitt, chief executive of the society, urged the government to help reduce the cost of motoring for consumers.
