Motorist admits to deceiving police
A motorist from Lancashire has admitted pretending to be his older brother in order to avoid a number of driving offences.

In August last year, Sufyan Hassan Mitha, 21, was pulled over by police for using his mobile phone while behind the wheel, This Is Lancashire reports.

Bolton crown court heard how Mitha had assumed his brother's identity in order to avoid penalties for driving without a license or car insurance.

He was given a suspended three-month prison sentence and was ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service.

The offender's brother Sarfraz, also admitted to perverting the course of justice and was given a two-month suspended sentence and 60 hours of community service, according to the news provider.

Liberal Democrat transport spokesman Mark Hunter recently told the Times newspaper that uninsured drivers "can cause thousands of pounds of damage and get away with pathetically small penalties".ADNFCR-1058-ID-18755549-ADNFCR
