Appeal made for return of sat nav
A 72-year-old woman from Devon is appealing for the return of her friend's sat nav after it was stolen from outside her home.

Jane Starkey from Honiton has put up a £100 reward for the return of the device, which was stolen from a Mercedes owned by Peter Garrick, 75, that was parked for a number of days on her street, the Midweek Herald reports.

Mr Garrick was visiting Ms Starkey when he was suddenly taken ill and rushed to hospital, leaving his car unlocked outside during his eight-day stay on a cardiac ward.

"Sometime during those eight days, a little thief came along, tried the door and got into the car. They stole the sav nav and about £6 in change," Ms Starkey explained.

However, the newspaper notes Mr Garrick has not reported the crime, believing that leaving his car unlocked places him at fault - something which could also compromise his car insurance.

Earlier this month, police in North Tyneside urged motorists to ensure they keep valuables, such as sat navs, out of sight to reduce their chances of being burgled, the News Guardian reports.ADNFCR-1058-ID-18755533-ADNFCR
