Police action sees vehicle break-ins fall

According to the Gazette Live, the local authorities launched a crackdown known as Operation Hassocks which used intelligence to actively target suspected criminals, reduce the market for stolen goods and provide free prevention advice.
Detective inspector Shane Sellers told the news provider the initiative has made the area a safer place for those who own cars.
"The multi-agency tactics employed as part of Operation Hassocks have, since September 2006, resulted in 1,551 fewer thefts from motor vehicles and we have gone a long way to achieving this," he said.
Should automotive crime continue to fall in the area it could have an impact on car insurance costs as it may lead to fewer claims being made to providers.
Meanwhile, the Watford Observer recently reported a police operation in the Three Rivers, Dacorum and Watford areas had seen vehicle-related offences fall over the last 18 months.
