Surge in burglaries across West Sussex
Home Insurance News - Published: 14/08/2008

According to the Haver Hill Echo, the number of break-ins rose significantly in July with 52 occurring in the Barbergh, Forest Heath, Mid Suffolk and St Edmondsbury.
The newspaper claims more than 40 per cent of the homes entered were not secured to an adequate standard.
Acting detective chief inspector Nick Bennett said property owners should not assume that break-ins only take place in the dark.
"Burglars don't just come out at night - they will take any opportunity represented to them, and it only takes a few seconds to steal a bag or a wallet through an open window or door during the day," he told the news provider.
Should the number of break-ins continue to rise in the area it could have an impact on home insurance costs as it may lead to more people making claims on their policies.
In other news, police in Bootle have handed out more than 350 SmartWater kits to residents in the area in order to help fight burglaries, the Bootle Times reports.
