Motorists warned over busy roads
Drivers are being warned the UK's roads are likely to be extremely busy this weekend (July25th to 27th), which could increase the likelihood of accidents that may in turn have an impact on car insurance costs.

According to traffic information provider keepmoving.co.uk, more than 18 million cars will take to the road on Saturday and Sunday, with the majority heading to coastal areas for a holiday, as the credit crunch has left some consumers unable to go abroad.

Mark Vingoe, from the website, said motorists can expect queues and delays as they head to other parts of the country this weekend.

"It's the A roads leading to coastal areas where motorists will notice the increased volume of traffic. Major routes out of cities will experience queues, with the M6 junctions 21-25 between Cheshire and the Lakes … amongst the most severely affected," he stated.

Should more cars take to the road this weekend it could mean a higher chance of accidents occurring which may have an impact on the cost of car insurance for some consumers.

In other news, the Highways Agency is to test new smart signs designed to encourage safe driving on the A12 London-bound carriageway, near Kelvedon, Essex.
