New BMW can 'see further than driver's eyes'
The new BMW 7-series will come fitted with an array of technological features such as a night vision system that allows the vehicle to see further into the dark than the driver, which could help reduce the number of road accidents and in turn affect car insurance costs.

By using a front facing camera the car can make out objects and possible obstructions on the road in front that the driver themselves may not be able to see.

Also included will be technology known as lane change warning and lane departure warning as well as the firm's new Active Blind Spot Development feature, which warns the driver of unseen vehicles in the blind spot when changing lanes.

In addition, the flagship car will feature cameras in the front bumper to help motorists negotiate obscured junctions.

Should the technology help drivers avoid road accidents it could also have an impact on car insurance costs, which could come down as a result of fewer claims being made.

In other news, Volvo revealed earlier in the year it is hoping to produce a car which is crash proof by 2020.
