Uninsured vehicles seized
Car Insurance News - Published: 27/06/2008

A total of 585 of the vehicles were confiscated due the drivers not possessing car insurance while 231 were seized for the not having cover in addition to a valid licence.
Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 police have specific powers to take possession of cars being used by motorists who do not satisfy the legal requirements associated with vehicle ownership.
Alex Morrison, Roads Policing and Support Inspector, said drivers guilty of these offences put the lives of law-abiding motorists in jeopardy and claims the operation denies criminals the use of the road.
"Research has shown that there is a clear link between criminality and offenders who commit vehicle document offences," he said.
The British Insurance Brokers' Association recently claimed the number of uninsured drivers on the UK's roads is a big problem.
