Fall in road casualties
Car Insurance News - Published: 26/06/2008

According to research from the Department for Transport, 2,943 motorists lost their lives last year, which is seven per cent fewer than in 2006 when 3,172 people were killed, Motors Today reports.
In addition, the total number of people who died or were seriously injured in road accidents fell by four per cent to 30,720 while the volume of traffic increased by one per cent.
There was an 11 per cent decline in the number of drivers and passengers who lost their lives, with the figure falling to 1,431, the website reports.
Should there be fewer accidents on the UK's roads it could lead to lower car insurance costs as there would be fewer claims made on policies.
In 2005, just over half (52 per cent) of people killed in road accidents were car users.
