Toyota wins security award

The company makes use of security systems designed by SBD and as a result the car was granted five stars in the 'theft of' and 'theft from' categories in the New Vehicle Security Ratings.
SBD has worked with Toyota in both Japan and the UK to assess future market requirements, set security rating targets and make security design recommendations.
Miguel Fonseca, managing director of Toyota (GB) said he was pleased the company's efforts to reduce car crime have been recognised.
"We are delighted to receive this award, and recognise the valuable support provided by SBD's security team in ensuring that Toyota vehicles remain in the forefront in the fight against vehicle crime," he stated.
Should a vehicle be harder to steal, or have things stolen from it, it could have an effect on car insurance as the owner would not have to make claims on their policy.
The awards were established in 2004 to recognise those manufacturers who produce the most secure cars and to raise consumer awareness of vehicle safety.
