Camera vandals show 'no respect'

Ray King said the recent cases of people spraying the devices with spray paint in the Newcastle area are showing a disregard for road safety by doing so, the Evening Chronicle reports.
He claims the cameras have had a positive effect as borne out by a reduction in the number of road traffic accidents seen along the A1058 and the figures "speak volumes".
"The cameras have worked. The collision rate has dropped dramatically. This is just a senseless act of vandalism," Mr King told the newspaper.
Should the number of incidents on Britain's roads be reduced, it could mean fewer insurance claims, which could help to lower the cost of cover.
A camera in Holmeswood Road near Mere Brow in Lancashire, which has been burnt on several occasions was recently vandalised again, theNewspaper.com reports.
