Check insurance cover and vehicle condition, expert warns
An industry expert has urged consumers to check the level of cover their car insurance policy provides as well as inspecting the condition of their vehicle before going on a motoring holiday.

It is estimated around three million people in the UK will embark on a driving break this summer and latest research has suggested the risk of accidents and breakdowns is the biggest concern.

Mike Walsh, director of Carcraft, believes motorists should go through a checklist to make sure the car is in good enough condition, which could make it safer and less likely to be involved in an accident and therefore have an impact on car insurance costs.

"Anyone considering a driving holiday this year should be aware that not only is it important to check you are covered by insurance but it is equally vital to check the condition of your car," he said.

Mr Walsh recommended motorists check things such as the tyres, oil level, water, lights and indicators and wipers.

A recent survey by the Post Office found Spain to be the best location for prospective motoring holiday makers.
