Young men pay the most for car insurance

According to moneysupermarket.com, the average premium for men under 30 years old is £370, while it falls to £262 for those over that age.
Young men also pay more than their female counterparts when it comes to insurance cover, the research found.
The average premium for a woman in her 20s is £320, while teenage females pay around £861 less than teenage males.
Women continue to enjoy cheaper cover until they reach their 50s, the price comparison site found.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at the website, believes insurance companies view women as safer, more mature drivers and this is reflected in cheaper cover.
"It's clear that insurers view women as far more mature motorists at an earlier age. Motorists who are prepared to shop around for the best deal each year will always come out on top, whatever their sex or age," he said.
Premiums for young men are higher as a result of them being involved in more accidents statistically.
