The law enforcement body claims goods have been stolen from cars such as handbags and coats.
It is now urging motorists to keep their vehicles locked to avoid being the victims of car crime and in turn steer clear of making any claims on their car insurance.
PC Kevin Burrows of the Doncaster Crime Reduction Unit claims simple security measures will save drivers problems in the long run.
"By spending a few seconds to ensure you have not left anything on display in your car at all times may well avoid the inconvenience of car crime," he said.
According to the Home Office, vehicle crime makes up 19 per cent of all offences and having security equipment such as immobilisers makes a vehicle more than ten times safer than those without.
