ABI releases flood advice
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has produced a range of hints and tips for those who have been affected by flash flooding in the west country.

Those with both business insurance and home insurance will be covered against flood damage, according to the ABI, and people who have suffered from flood waters should contact their insurance provider as soon as possible.

Any damaged goods should be photographed to produce an accurate record of the problems people have experienced and temporary repairs should be completed to prevent further damage.

People with car insurance should also be covered should their vehicle have suffered from the extreme weather conditions.

Nick Starling, the director of general insurance at the ABI, comments: "These events highlight just how important insurance protection is. If you have been affected by flooding, contact your insurance company. Their priority is to deal with all claims as quickly as possible."

The Environment Agency has issued further flood watch warnings in the south-west after heavy rains yesterday.
