A quarter of Surrey drivers fail vision test

A quarter of Surrey drivers fail vision test
Nearly 25 per cent of drivers in Surrey failed a vision test carried out by Specsavers earlier this month, which could increase the risk of collisions with other vehicles which in turn could cause higher vehicle insurance costs.

According to the optician, one in four drivers from Surrey scored below the required average at the Drive Safe roadshow trailer at the Surrey Heath Show.

The researchers also discovered that 100 per cent of those who took part in the examinations would consider compulsory eye tests if it impacted positively on the cost of their insurance cover.

Lateef Iqbal, store director at Camberley Specsavers, said poor driver vision is a particular worry on the dimly lit winding roads of Surrey.

"These results show a quarter of Surrey's drivers are dangerous, which is particularly alarming as being visually aware as a driver on the winding country lanes around Surrey is crucial, especially with limited street lighting," he stated.

A third of London drivers failed the same test.
