Insurance a 'key proponent' for improving driving

It has been revealed that the ABI is currently campaigning for a change in the law, which would require younger drivers to spend a year learning before they are granted their licences, in a move which could reduce insurance premiums.
Malcolm Tarling, a spokesperson for the association, believes that if driving behaviour can be changed then the potential for accidents can be reduced.
"If we can change the behaviour of young drivers, for example, we can reduce the very high risks that they face of being involved in a serious accident. We believe insurance is truly one of the key proponents for improving driving on our roads," he said.
Mr Tarling revealed that it is the association's aim is to see young learners gain more experience before actually sitting their tests.
A scheme was launched recently in Staffordshire where a 'black box', similar to those found in airplanes, is installed in vehicles to record driving data.
