Auto-theft on of the agenda
Car insurance experts, police officers and members of the government are to join vehicle manufacturers at a conference aimed at battling auto theft.

The National Vehicle Crime Conference is to take place in Warwickshire between May 7th and 8th and is organised by the UK arm of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigations (IAATI).

Under discussion will be issues such as the growth of vehicle tracking and telemetry systems, which enable police to halt stolen vehicles remotely, the development of the National Intelligence Model and a review of the Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service.

Dr Ken German, branch president of the IAATI, told Easier.com that the event will bring together teams dedicated to fighting automotive crime.

"There is nothing else in the calendar which tackles such an extensive range of issues relating to vehicle crime, nor is there anything which can look at issues in such depth or with such expertise," he stated.

Police in Manchester recently proposed that insurance premiums in that area should be reduced following a fall in the level of vehicle crime there.
