Crack down on uninsured drivers is working
Car Insurance News - Published: 16/04/2008

Recently released figures show that the policy details of 95 per cent of commercial and fleet vehicles have been recorded on the Motor Insurance Database (MID) since the beginning of the year.
The government revised its time-to-supply targets for the MID and statistics show that 96.4 per cent of drivers responded within the agreed time limit.
What these latest figures show, an MID spokeswoman told the Post, is how the industry has "developed a secure foundation for delivering its obligations" to motorists and that the scheme is working.
"Against a backdrop of police seizures doubling in 2007 to 150,000, and claims that reach the MIB falling for the second year running, these latest time-to-supply figures confirm the industry's determination to deliver honest motorists into compliance."
The MIB created the database in 2007 and insurers are obliged to provide information about all the vehicles on their system.
