Uninsured drivers "a menace"
Car Insurance News - Published: 14/04/2008

Theresa Villiers made the comment after new figures revealed that the number of uninsured and untaxed drivers is currently at two million, while the number of successful prosecutions of those caught has fallen.
Ms Villiers said: "Rogue drivers without tax or insurance are a menace to other road users. The direct result of Labour's incompetence in dealing with rogue drivers is that our roads are more dangerous."
The figures show that there are 63 per cent more people driving without road tax than eight years ago and critics say that an offender without tax is unlikely to have car insurance, a driving licence or an MoT.
Recent Home Office statistics revealed that the number of uninsured drivers brought before the courts has fallen since 1997.
