Insurance policy differences abroad

A common misconception found was that many Brits assumed their policy covered them inside and outside the UK.
However, under European Union law, insurers are only required to offer third party insurance, which does not cover theft or accidental damage.
Ashton Berkhauer, an insurance expert at uSwitch, told the Observer that it is unlikely insurance providers offer more than three days free cover.
"It isn't only sun cream holidaymakers need to worry about when driving abroad this summer," he said.
It is estimated that nine million Brits will be taking their car with them on holiday this summer.
